Green Tea - A Cleansing Food

Sunday, July 15, 2012

Tea has been cultivated for ages, in India and China. Today, tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world.  Millions of people in the world drink tea, and studies suggest that green tea (Camellia sinesis) in particular has many health benefits. There are three main varieties of tea -- green, black, and oolong. But normally black and green tea is consumed.

Today, scientific research in both Asia and the west is providing great evidence of Green tea being very healthy. The clandestine of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant: moreover hindering the growing of cancer cells, it kills cancer cells without damaging healthy tissue.

It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and hindering the abnormal development of blood clots. Some of the researchers think that elements in green tea known as catechins are responsible for the herb's fat-burning.

Results from these studies recommend that green tea may help treat the following health state of affairs:

·        Atherosclerosis
·        High cholesterol
·        Cancer
·        Bladder cancer
·        Breast cancer
·        Ovarian cancer
·        Colorectal cancer
·        Esophageal cancer
·        Lung cancer
·        Pancreatic cancer
·        Prostate cancer
·        Skin cancer
·        Stomach cancer
·        Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD)
·        Diabetes
·        Liver disease
·        Weight loss

It would be difficult to plan cleansing of your body without the consumption of important liquids. Green tea is one of the fluids important for keeping our organs healthy. It also helps to flush out contaminants from the body.  Mostly green tea is sold as dietetic supplements in the form of dried leaf tea & in capsule form. The average cup of green tea contains 50 - 150 mg polyphenols (antioxidants).
